Citadel Tower

The seat of galactic governance and control of the mass relay network.

The Citadel Tower is the central structure of the Citadel space station, housing the Presidium and serving as the seat of the Citadel Council. It is the political heart of the galactic community, where representatives from the Council races gather to govern. The tower also controls the station's mass relay network, managing traffic through the galactic hub. Its upper levels are restricted to high-ranking officials, while its lower foundations anchor the station's gravity generators.

Lore & Background

The Citadel Tower is the location of the Council chamber, where the Citadel Council convenes to debate and decide the fate of the galaxy. The tower is protected by C-Sec forces and occasionally by Spectres, agents with authority to act outside local laws. During the Reaper invasion, the station was cut off from the relays, and the Council chambers became a site of desperate defense. The tower endures as a symbol of galactic order, even in times of chaos.

In Their Own Story

Commander Shepard steps off the shuttle and approaches the lift to the Council chamber. The ascent is a silent climb. The doors open to a vast circular sanctum where three Councilors sit in judgment. Through the transparisteel walls, the void of space is visible, dotted with ships and relays. Shepard knows that the words spoken here will echo through history. The tension in the room is palpable.

Reader's Guide

The Citadel Tower is the administrative core of the station, functioning as the meeting place for the Citadel Council. Within its walls, laws are debated and crises are managed. Access to the uppermost chambers is restricted to high-ranking diplomats, councilors, and authorized Spectres. The tower acts as a central hub for major story progression. Control over the tower is effectively control over galactic policy. During crises, it transforms into a command center, directing C-Sec forces and coordinating with allied fleets.
